Eleven years after starting her “Fashion Icons” in New York — and 61 interviews later — Fern Mallis celebrated the release of her second book Wednesday night at Nordstrom’s 57th Street store in Manhattan.
A steady stream of well-wishers cycled through the cocktail party including designers like Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Nicole Miller, Dion Lee, Stan Herman, Jeffrey Banks, Yeohlee Teng and Frederick Anderson. En route to the third-floor event at Nordstrom’s NYC Broadway Bar, copies of Mallis’ “Fashion Icons 2” book were showcased in different areas.

Stan Herman and Fern Mallis were honored Tuesday for their efforts to stage “7th on Sixth” in Bryant Park, which started in 1993.
The accessories industry gathered Tuesday night at New York’s Pierre Hotel to celebrate the Accessories Council Excellence Awards, which also coincided with the organization’s 30th anniversary.
The awards show honored many designers and executives across the accessories industry, awarding Coach with Brand of the Year, Prabal Gurung for Designer of the Year, Fern Mallis for Hall of Fame and Larroudé for Rising Star, among others.

After an almost two year COVID hiatus, Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis returns to the 92nd Street Y stage with some of the hottest and buzzworthy designers working today: Joseph Altuzarra, Prabal Gurung, Brandon Maxwell.
As New York City’s cultural institutions continue to return to in-person events, 92Y is planning to bring back “Fashion Icons With Fern Mallis.”
High fashion was served up downtown before the clock even struck noon (or one could get their hands on coffee!) in the ballroom of Casa Cipriani, as supporters gathered to toast Wes Gordon.
“I think we had the first actual “End of Fashion Week” party – we did a “Blue Jeans and Burgers” party at Rex co-hosted by Cindy, Linda, Christy, and Naomi in, I believe, 1991,” said Rabin. “And Fern Mallis let us throw two massive parties to end Fashion Week in the tents in Bryant Park in the early 1990s.”
